Six Sigma Methodology is an enabler for achieving world-class quality and it establishes the foundation for continuous improvements to meet the highest level of customer satisfaction. Many of the tools used (SIPOC, Gage r&r, process maps, DOE's, FMEA's) may be familiar to you from the quality tool bag. In the Six Sigma Green Belt training, we will learn how to apply these tools in a 5-phase, project-focused method called DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) to achieve business objectives.
Each phase of the DMAIC model is covered in this course. In each phase you will learn the following:
• Define - Learn how to identify the problem and develop a problem statement.
• Measure - Learn how to establish techniques for collecting data to quantify the magnitude of the existing problem.
• Analyze - Learn how to use both graphical and process analysis tools and methods to analyze the data collected in the measure phase to identify sources of variation.
• Improve - Learn where defining the problem ends and Solving the problem begins. You will learn how to generate and pilot potential solutions for the causes identified in the Analyze Phase.
• Control - Learn how to institutionalize the process/product improvement idea and monitor the ongoing performance in order to sustain the gain achieved in the Improve Phase.
What is Involved with becoming Six sigma Green Belt Certified?
Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a 2-part confirmation of the participant’s capabilities with respect to Green Belt competencies. Part I of process consist of the completion of the online Six Sigma Green Belt training.
Part 2 requires the completion of the Green Belt exam. It is recommended that a demonstration of the application of the Six Sigma Green Belt tools be also be provided prior to receiving a certificate of completion. Thus, it is encourage that participants of this course begin the online training with a well-defined project to work on during the sessions. Generally, the project should be selected from a list of business transactional or technical issues facing your area of work. The project selected can be used throughout the course to apply the learning during the exercises. Thus, please keep your project simple in scope. Generally, It is recommended that the Six Sigma Green Belt candidate for certification complete an improvement project within 6 month of completing the online training & exam to apply the learning while the material is current or “fresh” in the mind.
